Confirmations for 2013

I am delighted to be able to announce that this year we will be running a full set of confirmation classes.  At this point we have good reason to believe that there will be a healthy number of candidates, all within the 11-14 age bracket.

 

Sophie and I will be running the classes, with voluntary help.  Our aim is to provide a series of sessions which are both fun and engaging, using Christianity Explored CY multimedia and other activities (and quite likely plenty of chocolate too).  

 

This is our warm invitation to you to join the group and enjoy learning together what it means to think about our Christian Faith, Church and all of that.....

The classes will take place in the St Lawrence Church Hall, beginning at 10:00am (at the same time as the service) beginning on 12th May and then continuing on 19th May, 2nd, 9th and 16th June.   You will note that we will not be meeting together on 26th May, which is half-term. 

 

In addition we will also be meeting together on two Friday evenings when we will be sharing tea or a barbecue together at the vicarage.  These will be on 7th June and 14th June.

 

The confirmation service itself will be on Tuesday 2nd July during the evening (exact details to be provided), and a first communion in the parish the following Sunday on 7th July.  

 

Our hope is to try to encourage a group that would then like to continue meeting together from September.  To help the young people to gel and to promote the idea of inviting friends we will be running a day-trip to Cadbury’s World on Saturday 6th July.

We do not expect every young person to be able to make it along to every session.  We all have busy lives and even I am not in church every Sunday!  So please don’t worry if you are unable to be at all of the mornings or evenings.
