Products and Services Details
The main aim of the Chobham Agricultural & Horticultural Society is to stage the Annual Show in September. This show features classes for Vegetable, Fruit, Dahlias, Flowers, Floral Decoration, Art, Handicrafts, Photography, Wine and Children’s classes. There is also a Fun Dog Show held on this day.
The Society celebrated its 150th Anniversary in 2001, having been founded in 1851. The Annual Show is still a popular event in the village, with many exhibitors entering the show.
In July each year a Garden Competition is held, with classes for Gardens, Hanging Baskets and Tubs. Photographs of the winning gardens etc are displayed at the Annual Show.
To celebrate the Millennium the Society resurrected their Ploughing Match, which had not been held for 27 years. This is an event that is to be continued and this year is due to be held on 30th September.
The Society also organises a dinner annually, which is traditionally for men only! This year another dinner has been arranged in celebration of the 150th Anniversary – ladies and gentlemen may attend.
Regular trips are made to either the Malvern Spring Gardening Show or the Malvern Autumn Show. The Society is also an affiliated member of the Royal Horticultural Society.
There is currently a display from the archives in the Chobham Museum.
