This year’s Festival starts on September 24th with the popular Jazz Evening and Supper in Chobham Village Hall and for this event we welcome back the Sussex Jazz Kings. This well known Jazz Group provided two truly great evenings of Traditional Jazz at the 2007 and 2008 Festivals in Chobham and there have been numerous requests for a return visit – so here they are again!

The Candlelight Concert in St. Lawrence Church on Tuesday September 27th presents one of the great masterpieces of the Chamber Music repertoire, Schubert’s glorious Octet for clarinet, bassoon, horn and strings. This sunniest of musical compositions captures all the charm of Viennese life and abounds in appealing melodies. Also in the programme is Mozart’s celebrated Serenade ‘Eine kleine Nachtmusik’.

The Saturday Festival Concert on October 1st features some of the best known works from the Baroque era in a resplendent Festive Baroque Concert.Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No.2, excerpts from Handel’s ‘Water Music’andBach’s Concerto for Two Violins are three of the works to be performed in the concert by an array of soloists with orchestra. The unique qualities of St. Lawrence Church are especially suited to Baroque Music and there have beenmany memorable events of this type at previous Festivals.
