Entries are now open for the third Fairoaks Five off-road race which takes place on Sunday 13 October in support of Woking Hospice.

The popular event starts and finishes at Fairoaks Airport in Chobham, taking runners on a five-mile route past Horsell Common, McLaren's Formula 1 headquarters, and the site of the Martians' landing in HG Wells' War of the Worlds.

Race organiser Ellie Barnes, of Reading-based Barnes Fitness, said the race was quickly growing in popularity. "We had 140 finishers at the second event in April — around 40 more than at the first in October 2012.

"It's a great route that offers a taste of off-road racing in a fabulous setting, and it's suitable for runners of all abilities. Our focus is on making sure everyone enjoys themselves while raising funds for a worthwhile cause."

The race starts at 10.30am and is chip timed for a fast, accurate results service. Keith Rimmer Massage and Real Touch Massage will be on hand to offer free sessions both before and after the event, and also providing support are Sweatshop, The Running School, Pepperfit, and Co-op Horsell.

All finishers receive a commemorative medal.

The minimum age for entries is 16, and entries taken on the day will cost an additional £2 on top of the normal £14 fee for UK Athletics-affiliated runners and £16 for non-affiliated runners.
